PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The theme of war is highly relevant because all countries in the modern world are interconnected. If there is a war or even a threat of war somewhere in the world, it often affects all the inhabitants of the planet, and they feel this impact in their daily lives. Therefore, people need to learn to view war as a circumstance that cannot be completely eliminated from their lives. To achieve this, we need to examine this aspect of human existence, explore its history, study human behavior during war in various circumstances, and form our own attitude towards it.

We propose drawing attention to this issue through a direction such as Trench Art. This involves creating works of art from military remnants produced by the military or ordinary citizens during various wars from the past to the present. Showcasing both old artifacts and the new development of this trend, which appeals to the traditional artistic forms of European art. 

We would like to collect various works of Trench Art and organize an exhibition that will travel and be showcased in different European countries. 

Through the revival of Trench Art, we aim to demonstrate that the issue of war in the modern world is still relevant

ORGANISATION DESCRIPTION

The War Artists Union (WAU) is a team of Ukrainian artists specialized in creating exclusive art objects for interior design using fragments from military equipment and weaponry.  

 our aims are: 

Dissemination of the message: to draw attention to the issue of the war in Ukraine and the problems of violence and terrorism worldwide, using art to demonstrate how destruction can be transformed into a symbol of rebirth and peace. 

Cultural Diplomacy: WAU aims to improve relations and understanding between countries and cultures, showcasing how art unites even in the most challenging times. Creation of exclusive artworks: our artists create unique art objects that reflect their individual views on war, peace, and hope. 

Support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (and veterans in the future): through the sale of art objects, we plan to raise funds to support the military, providing them with necessary assistance and backing. 

Enhancement of awareness: WAU contributes to increasing society's awareness of the devastating consequences of war and the importance of peace, raising questions about how war affects people's lives. 

Stimulation of creativity: we stimulate artists' creativity by providing them with unconventional materials to work with, creating new Ukrainian art that corresponds to contemporary Ukraine.
