AGIMUS (Aging with Music) is a European cooperation project aiming to create employment opportunities for young musicians by engaging them in a socially impactful field: music as therapy for old people. In an ageing society, music serves as a powerful tool to improve physical and mental wellbeing. The project addresses the difficulty many music graduates face in establishing professional careers, offering them a new niche within the healthcare and social sectors.

AGIMUS will train young musicians in three European cities and implement regular live music sessions in care homes and day centres for old people. These concerts will incorporate familiar songs to foster emotional connection and intergenerational exchange. The initiative also aims to generate measurable health benefits, using both qualitative and quantitative indicators aligned with the Green Deal. The partnership includes universities, cultural organizations, and municipalities that will work together on identifying and engaging local, national and European ecosystems needed to sustain this proposal.

Over two years, the project will deliver training workshops, live concerts, impact assessments, and design shared strategies to foster young musicians' inclusion. Finally, coordinated communication activities will demonstrate the value of music as a profession and as a tool for social wellbeing.
