PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Feminism(s) is a widely and complex movement that draws attention to gender based inequalities, strereotypes and violence. It involves a diversity of realities, theories and practices that question and critique the status quo in limiting women’s roles/positions/lives/potential.

Intersectional Feminism can be more diverse and inclusive, by understanding of how women’s overlapping identities - including race, class, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation- impact the way they experience oppression and discrimination. Collective artistic creation can be a common space -  a landscape, for intersectionality essay and materialisation. Art offers a vision of future worlds and manifests a desire for projecting change, playing with existing realities and conventions.

TransFemina proposes the discussion and the (re)signification of identity, feminisms, intersectionality and power structures, through artistic creation. Regarding the diversity of practices and realities that it comprises, TransFemina explores and reflects on the role of feminist interventions in the public space.

ORGANISATION DESCRIPTION

PELE is an organisation created in 2007, based in Porto - Portugal,  which develops artistic projects as spaces for reflection and action. The creative process aims to empower civic and political engagement and to enhance individual and collective change.
