PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Ecological Cultural Center is a civic space for co-creation and sustainable artistic experimentation. This project was born from the regeneration of a disused municipal plot by the community and local actors in the neighborhoods of Les Planes and Sant Josep in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. At the end of the year 2020, we started the construction of the building of the ecological cultural center. This space is designed with the neighbours and a network of local actors and is built through self-construction with volunteers and local agents. The project was born with the conviction that culture transforms, generates opportunities, has the capacity to raise awareness and excite, and is respectful of the environment in which it operates and can respond to contemporary urban challenges and vulnerable populations.
We are looking for peer organisations working on cultural democratisation and mediation. As an organization we are looking to generate an interest and cultural demand in a segment of the population without their basic needs covered. Some of our recipients do not have the needs covered by security (legal, economic, etc.), integration (cultural, social) or even housing. These chronic vulnerabilities or multivulnerabilities are a barrier to access to the arts or be the target of project actions. We are keeping open the spaces for participation and the internal mechanisms of organization to move towards a full cultural democracy within the project.
We are searching por European partners to start a network of organisations working on cultural democratization, art and sustainability and architecture. The aim is to develop a network of partner organisations with the same objectives to work together towards organising a programe of artists in residency, shared knowledge and multilateral projects working with the public in various European countries.

ORGANISATION DESCRIPTION

Our mission is to improve the quality of life of people by promoting social participation to intervene in their public space, schools, etc. We want to strengthen social participation for a more active society, committed and aware of its power for change in its environment.
Through interventions in micro-urbanism, public art and participatory processes, we want to reverse the pathologies and chronic deficiencies of our cities in order to improve them and make them more sustainable and efficient.
We understand the need to change the current dynamics and make the cities more participatory for the whole population, and empowering people to make the relevant changes and foster a culture of participation.
