ORGANISATION DESCRIPTION

Within the local community, the ASTRA Library of Sibiu County is an important center of information, research, communication, entertaining and social connections. The library offers generous spaces (inner facilities) in which the community members have access to information, documents and various activities, with the purpose of training and developing their educational and cultural skills and abilities.
Most of the services of the ASTRA Library of Sibiu County are available to the public free of charge and the efforts of the librarians in the headquarters and in the five branches are constantly aimed to meeting the needs of users regarding ,information, research, education and leisure. Our library also provides publishing services in the printing house – Armanis –
for the patrons and users.
The ASTRA Library offers many cultural spaces – halls, reading rooms or other purpose rooms - for different activities: book presentations, exhibitions, conferences, communication
sessions, book clubs, symposiums, workshops, film screenings, art festivals, music shows, private events.
The most desired facilities for organizing cultural events and artistic activities are situated in the main buildings (headquarters) of the ASTRA Library:
- in the modern building: the Foyer (the lobby on the ground floor), the Council Hall (the 1st floor), the American Corner
Sibiu (the 5th floor), the Telescopic Space of Knowledge (the6th floor) and the Library Terrace that offers an amazing panoramic view of Sibiu city (the 5th floor)
- in the historical building: the Festive Hall (the 2nd floor), due to its acoustics and elegance, is suitable for cultural and artistic events and a small museum that brings together fascinating documents, the First Romanian Encyclopedia, old printing
